Stem Cell Bank on the Way to Reality
California is opening its first bank for human stem cells. Taxpayers are giving more than $30 million to a handful of scientists to begin cultivating the cells. This effort to bank stem cells is the nation's most ambitious, according to Dr. Uta Grieshammer of California's stem cell agency. Dr. Grieshammer says grantees will use Nobel Prize-winning breakthroughs to create stem cells from blood cells.

Supreme Court Hears Arguments on DOMA, Prop. 8
History will be made this week when the U.S. Supreme Court hears oral arguments on the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Proposition 8, California's ban on same-sex marriage. We report from Washington, D.C. for two days of arguments.
