State prison inmates have ended their hunger strike after receiving promises of legislative hearings into their complaints that conditions inside controversial security housing units are abusive.

Once again, California is bucking a national trend. While other states have been restricting access to abortion, in Sacramento lawmakers have passed a measure that actually expands access to the procedure.
