Cal State Trustees Jockey for Increased Funding
Governor Jerry Brown has made a habit of showing up for UC and Cal State board meetings, and this week's meeting of the Cal State trustees in Long Beach was no exception. As the economy improves, both systems are hungry for cash to make up for ground lost during the recession. But Gov. Brown seems to have no trouble urging academic leaders to manage their expectations.

California Democrats Continue Push for Immigration Reform
Is immigration reform dead? Not quite yet, say Congressional observers, even though the plan put forward by the "Gang of Seven" appears to have stalled in the House, and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's plan to push a version of the Senate bill has to win GOP support. After a whole lot of talk about immigration reform, there's a lot of disappointment in the air -- and lawmakers from California are busy pointing fingers at each other.
