As the sentencing of an accused Guatemalan war criminal living in Southern California draws near, a forensic group headquartered in Guatemala is reaching out to immigrants in Los Angeles. The Guatemalan Forensic Anthropology Foundation has been gathering DNA samples from Guatemalan immigrants in the hopes of solving mysteries about loved ones who either died or went missing during that country's 36-year civil war.
