White House Officials, Gov. Brown Discuss Climate Change
White House officials met with Governor Jerry Brown and other state and local leaders Thursday in Los Angeles to talk about climate change. It was the first meeting of the president's newly created Climate Change Task Force outside of the White House. The task force is charged with overseeing federal response to floods, wildfires and storms sometimes linked to global warming.
Ex-Governors Back Measure to Speed Death Penalty Case Processing
Former California governors George Deukmejian, Pete Wilson and Gray Davis are backing a ballot initiative they say would fix California's broken death penalty system. The measure would require the state's legal system to process death penalty cases in five years instead of the usual 12 to 15 years.
