Lawmakers Begin to Negotiate Brown's Rainy-Day Fund

California is moving toward allowing some two-year community colleges to offer a limited number of bachelor's degrees. The state Senate Education Committee approved the pilot project, which is aimed at meeting a growing demand for highly trained workers.

NYPD's Twitter Outreach Backfire Ripples to LAPD
It may be the worst PR backfire in recent NYPD history. The police department launched a hash tag on Twitter, #MyNYPD, to encourage the public to post photos of cops doing good things. But the Twitter community used it to post photos of police brutality instead. Now, tweeters on the West Coast are doing the same thing with hashtag #MyLAPD.
