San Diego Fires Update: Homes Burned in Carlsbad and San Marcos
Firefighters in Southern California have their work cut out for them. Nine fires - seven of them major - are burning in San Diego County alone. Homes have burned in the cities of Carlsbad and San Marcos. About 30 school districts are closed today. Erik Anderson of KPBS joins us to talk about the latest.

UC Regents Want More Geographically Diverse Pool of Community College Transfer Students
UC Regents met this week in Sacramento. Governor Jerry Brown, who attended the meeting, came to throw his support behind decreasing freshmen enrollment in favor of welcoming more California community college transfer students. UC President Janet Napolitano wants more students from underrepresented parts of the state.
