Smartphone Kill Switch Bill Heads to State Assembly
Legislation requiring smartphones sold in California be equipped with a kill switch heads to a committee in the state Assembly Monday. Last week, San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon announced that Google and Microsoft will add kill switches to the next versions of their cell phone operating systems. The switch allows users to make a stolen phone inoperable and erase data held on the phone.
New Evidence Links Pesticide Exposure With Autism
A new study from UC Davis reveals new evidence that pesticide exposure is associated with autism. Researchers tracked pesticide applications on farms in the Central Valley, near Sacramento and the Bay Area, and matched them to the addresses of about 1,000 women who lived nearby when they were pregnant.
