As Californians live longer, we're all becoming generally familiar with dementia. But that doesn't necessarily translate into noticing when our loved ones start to slip into its grip. If dementia is caught early, friends, family and social services can rally to keep the affected person in her home for as long as possible. Dr. Anna Chodos, a geriatrician at UCSF, urges us to pay attention.
