Humboldt County Set to Decide on Banning GMO Production
Two years ago, a statewide proposition that would have required labeling of foods containing genetically modified organisms failed by a slim margin. That measure had wide support in Humboldt County. On Tuesday, residents there will vote on Measure P, which would ban the production of GMO crops in their region.

Can This Man Get L.A.'s Young Citizens to Vote?
The June primary election set a record for low voter turnout, especially among people under 25. Less than 4 percent of them cast ballots statewide. In Los Angeles County, the figure was a full 1 percent lower. Turnout for the upcoming general election might not be much higher, but one L.A. county bureaucrat with a big vision is working to change that.
