Brown, Napolitano Meet One-On-One Over UC Finances
Gov. Jerry Brown and University of California President Janet Napolitano have been butting heads over plans to increase tuition. The UC regents voted to raise tuition by a little more than $3,000 over the next five years. Brown wants the regents to repeal the tuition hikes, or he says he'll pull state funds. Napolitano has indicated she won't back down without more money from the state. In an unusual meeting without the press or any other regents present, Brown and Napolitano will sit down Monday, one-on-one.
