Legislative Battle Brewing over Medi-Cal Reimbursement Rates
Thanks to the success of Obamacare, about 1/3 of Californians are covered by Medi-Cal, that's the state's healthcare insurance for low-income Californians. But one of the perennial problems of Medi-Cal has been its low payments to doctors. And that, in part, has contributed to a shortage of physicians in low-income neighborhoods. Lawmakers introduced a bill earlier this week to change that but whether that'll become law is still up in the air.

Broad Museum Adds to L.A. Modern Art Clout
There's an art war emerging in California. At stake, whether LA or San Francisco will emerge as the West Coast center of modern art. First out of the gate, is L.A, where the Broad Museum is expected to open in the fall. That collection, along with the MOCA's across the street, is also being touted as one of the world's greatest collections of modern art. Angelenos lined up by the thousands to get a sneak of the museum building recently.
