Thousands of Mexicans deported from Southern California could be eligible to return under an agreement between federal authorities and the ACLU. The civil rights group sued the government two years ago, claiming U.S. border agents often pressure detained immigrants to leave voluntarily.

L.A. Votes to Move Elections in Hopes of Boosting Turnout
This week, cities across California held local elections, but getting voters to the polls was nearly impossible. In Los Angeles, only about 9 percent of registered voters turned out. But the voters passed two charter amendments to move city and school board elections to even-numbered years. We discuss the change with KPCC's Frank Stoltze.
