The real estate site Zillow has crowned San Francisco the best city in the U.S. to trick or treat in. The basic algorithm: best candy yield in shortest walking distance with the fewest safety risks. Somehow, all that allowed San Francisco to edge out Boston.

The top five 'hoods, according to Zillow:

  1. Presidio Heights
  2. Cow Hollow
  3. South Beach
  4. Sea Cliff
  5. Pacific Heights
