Vital Signs: Community Policing Through Exercise in East Palo Alto 'Fit Zones'
East Palo Alto has one of the highest murder rates in California. It's home of a new community policing effort using "Fit Zones." Every week, police and residents take over a park to ride bikes, play volleyball and exercise. We went to Bell St. Park right off highway 101 to find out why city residents keep showing up. We also talked with Sarah Lawrence of UC Berkeley's Warren Institute on Law and Social Policy. She's part of the team that's researching the Fit Zones.
