Brown Shrinks Delta Conservation Plan, Jeopardizing Water Tunnels
Southern California needs more water, a significant portion of which comes from the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. But environmental groups have long opposed projects that would deliver that water. In came Gov. Jerry Brown, who promised a compromise to both deliver more water and preserve the Delta. But on Thursday, Brown announced he's drastically scaling back Delta conservation efforts -- and that could jeopardize the twin tunnels plan from going forward.
New Funds Could Rejuvenate Adult Education
Adult education plays a vital role in California, helping people complete their high school requirements, learn a new job skill or gain English language proficiency. But years of budget cuts have taken a toll, and many programs in the state are barely hanging on. In the Central Valley, a new plan for funding adult education is especially welcome.
