Since the Vietnam War, we've learned a lot about psychological injuries like PTSD. Of course it's not unique to veterans. In fact we've learned it can even affect school kids who grow up in communities with lots of gun violence, including Oakland. For the second part of our series "Books and Bullets," we look at how teachers and counselors in Oakland work to heal the hidden wounds of these kids, wounds that can make learning that much harder.
