State Moves Closer to Extending Health Care to Undocumented Immigrants
The State Senate approved Sen. Ricardo Lara's Health Care for All Act on Tuesday. If the bill gets through the Assembly, California would be the first state in the nation to offer health coverage to immigrants who are here illegally. It would also allow undocumented kids to enroll in Medi-Cal. Opponents to the bill questioned the expansion. They say, there's already a shortage of doctors who'll see Medi-Cal patients and the bill would just make that worse.
