Calming Dementia Patients, Without Powerful Drugs
There was another big ruling this week from a state superior court -- and it could have wide-reaching implications for the use of anti-psychotic drugs in nursing homes. The court found some facilities are overreaching in making medical decisions for certain patients. The ruling follows a decline in the use of these drugs over the past three years as nursing homes adhere to new federal rules. But some health experts say there is still a long way to go. We find out how some facilities have learned to help patients without medication.
