Los Angeles will be the largest city in the country to allow ride-share services to pick passengers up from the airport. One lingering issue is whether ride-share drivers should be subject to the same background checks as taxi drivers. The city council asked state regulators to require background checks with fingerprints for ride-share drivers just like taxi drivers. Once contracts are worked out, L.A. will join San Francisco and San Jose, which began allowing ride-share pick ups in the last year.
