Los Angeles Selected as U.S. Bid for 2024 Olympics
It's happened twice already in Los Angeles, once in 1932 and again in 1984. Could L.A. once again be the site of the summer Olympic games? The U.S. Olympic Committee on Tuesday nominated L.A. as the U.S. host city for the 2024 summer games. The news came hot on the heels of the City Council's own endorsement, one that came with some reservations.
A Closer Look at the Debate Over Medi-Cal Reimbursement Rates
Lawmakers are in special session in Sacramento right now, and one of the things they're discussing is whether the state can find a way to bring Medi-Cal reimbursement rates for doctors back up. Medi-Cal is the state's health care program for low-income folks. And in 2011, when California was in a financial crisis, lawmakers cut reimbursement rates by 10 percent. California's rates are the second-lowest in the country, and 1 in 3 Californians is now covered by Medi-Cal.
