KQED reporter Sukey Lewis grew up in Lake County. Earlier this week, she joined one of the first convoys of residents escorted into the Cobb Mountain area by Cal Fire. Residents were allowed to retrieve pets and important items they'd left behind when they fled the Valley Fire. Lewis rode along to check in on old friends she grew up with.
