But the saxophonist's next release, "Ascension," with its genre-pushing free-jazz sounds, divided fans. Now, the Bay Area group ROVA reimagines this challenging work on its new record, "ROVA Channeling Coltrane." Jazz critic Andrew Gilbert has a review.
