The board that oversees California's community colleges is replacing the agency that accredits the schools, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). The agency has faced criticism since 2013 for threatening to shut down City College of San Francisco. The system will transition to a new accreditor over the next couple of years.
