Now You Can Ride a Train From Downtown L.A. to the Beach
Today marks a big day for public transit in Los Angeles. For the first time in more than 60 years, passengers can board a train in downtown L.A. and ride it to a stop within blocks of the beach in Santa Monica.
State Transportation Funding at a Crisis Point
Transportation funding in California has reached a crisis point. Last year, Gov. Jerry Brown convened a special transportation session to put a spotlight on the issue. Special sessions -- in theory -- give lawmakers more time to hash out bills. But that isn't happening. And so counties across the state are taking it on themselves to raise the funds.
