L.A.'s Punk History Comes to Light in 'Under the Big Black Sun'

In the '70s, L.A. bands like The Eagles dominated the radio charts. But as the decade wound down, another sound was hitting the southland: punk rock. It was a movement that lasted just a few short years, but it marked a pivotal and influential moment. Now, musician John Doe, co-founder of the band X, has teamed up with music industry veteran Tom DeSavia on a new book called "Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A. Punk."
