These days, rock music festivals are just part of the summer landscape in California. But back in 1967, they were totally new. Forty-nine years ago this weekend, the Monterey Pop Festival introduced audiences to rock and roll camping, all-day shows, and a little-known guitarist named Jimi Hendrix. Reporter Valerie Hamilton bring us a story about a teenager from L.A. who went to Monterey back in 1967, and brought home the souvenir of a lifetime.
