The state legislature gave its final approval yesterday to a two billion dollar homeless bond. The measure will give money to counties to build permanent supportive housing for homeless people with mental illness. The bond needed a two-thirds vote to pass, meaning it needed Republican support. Assembly Republicans signed on to the measure after ten million dollars were added for both homeless youth and veterans.
