California Legislature Passes A Dozen New Gun Regulations
A bill from Senate President Kevin de Leon would require a background check to purchase ammunition. Other measures would require the reporting of lost or stolen guns, and ban large capacity magazines. Republicans said the bills would have little impact on stopping criminals from carrying out mass shootings. The bills now head to the desk of Governor Jerry Brown.

Homeless Bond Passes Legislature with Republican Support
The state legislature gave its final approval yesterday to a two billion dollar homeless bond. The measure will give money to counties to build permanent supportive housing for homeless people with mental illness. The bond needed a two-thirds vote to pass, meaning it needed Republican support. Assembly Republicans signed on to the measure after ten million dollars were added for both homeless youth and veterans.
