The theme of the opening day of the Republican National Convention was "Make America Safe Again." Donald Trump and a parade of GOP leaders alongside military veterans, actors and reality TV stars focused on national security. That includes an issue very much on the minds of many Californians: immigration. California's delegation also played a role in pushing back against a anti-Trump insurgency on the floor.
