Supreme Court to Hear Samsung Challenge in Apple Patent Case
Tech giant Samsung is having a really rough week, and it's only Tuesday. First, the company stops selling the replacements to the Galaxy 7 Note. Like the originals, those replacements were spontaneously catching fire. Then, Samsung's stock plunged eight percent. Now spontaneous combustion and stock sell offs are real world problems. But perhaps not as perilous as putting your future in the hands of a certain eight people in black robes. Samsung will be in front of the U.S. Supreme Court today.
Justice by Geography: Direct File Applied Differently Across Counties
Yesterday we told you about a practice called direct file. That's when a district attorney, not a judge, decides if a minor as young as 14 will go to adult court. Whether to return that decision to a judge is part of Proposition 57. Today we look at how it's used in one county: San Francisco. Despite its significant size, the county rarely uses direct file.
