Tom Hayden came to prominence as a leader in the Students for a Democratic Society. Considered a radical at the time, Hayden would win a seat to the California Assembly and the Senate. He once said that "A silent majority and government by the people is incompatible." Tom Hayden died Sunday in Santa Monica. He was 76.
