Mistrial in Federal Case Against Former L.A Sheriff Baca
Jurors could not reach a verdict in the federal corruption case of former county Sheriff Lee Baca. Baca is accused of obstructing a federal investigation into abuses at the jail. With the jurors unable to reach a verdict, the judge overseeing the case called a mistrial.
Modesto Defense Attorney Released from Jail in Murder Proceedings
In Modesto, prominent defense attorney Frank Carson has been released from jail. The Stanislaus County District Attorney says he's involved in a vast murder conspiracy. The judge in the case says the DA should have turned over thousands of files of crucial evidence to the defense, and released Carson and his co-defendants on their own recognizance.
