In 2018, El Cajon will follow other cities around the state -- like Palmdale, Compton and Anaheim -- in holding district elections, an attempt to more accurately represent their growing diversity. In El Cajon, the recent police shooting of an unarmed black man catalyzed political change that was already underway there.
