Over a quarter of California's population are immigrants from all over the world. Some of them happen to serve in the state Legislature, with members born in Iran, Mexico, Vietnam, South Korea and Hong Kong. As part of a series on immigrant lawmakers, we profile California's first Indian-American member of the Assembly, Ash Kalra, who represents part of Silicon Valley.
