If you're planning on cruising on Interstate 280 northbound in San Francisco over the Labor Day weekend, be aware that a stretch of the freeway will be closed starting at 2 p.m. today and continuing through Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 5 a.m..

The closure will occur from the 101/280 interchange through downtown San Francisco. Caltrans says it expects a "significant travel delay" as traffic will be rerouted to U.S. 101.

Southbound 280 will remain open.

Here are the on-ramps that will be closed:

  • Alemany Boulevard
  • U.S. 101 connector to northbound Interstate 280
  • Indiana Street/25th Street
  • 18th Street

Use 511.org to map out your trip using public transportation, which Caltrans strongly recommends, or to check traffic conditions.
