News Pix: Outside Lands, Sir Paul and Remembering Robin Williams

 An Instagram photo that comedian and actor Robin Williams posted on his last birthday, July 21. Williams died Monday at age 63.  A Marin County forensic investigation found that Williams hanged himself with a belt. Those who knew Williams personally in the San Francisco entertainment scene remembered his kindness in addition to his other-worldly talent.

The crowd for the DJ duo Duck Sauce at the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park.  The festival ran August 8-10 and featured headline performances from Kanye West, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and The Killers. (Wendy Goodfriend/KQED)

 Repeatedly over the last few months, stones from the retaining walls of the solar calendar installation at Cesar Chavez Park in Berkeley have been removed or thrown into nearby bushes, and signs with descriptions of the tribute have been smashed. The installation is a homage to the famous activist.  (Cris Benton/Berkeleyside)
