KQED Sacramento Bureau Chief John Myers flags, via Twitter, Gov. Jerry Brown's press release on his budget announcement, due out at 11 a.m. The headline: The governor's plan cuts another $12.5 billion out of the state budget (the cutting has been going on so long that we need to do a refresher on what's left in the budget and how it compares to the high-water-mark years before nuclear winter The Great Recession set in). Headline 2: Brown will ask voters to extend "temporary" increases in the state sales and income taxes for five years.

The budget press release John points to is here. The budget will be posted in its entirety here: ebudget.ca.gov/. And if you're in a budget-watching mood, the 11 a.m. announcement will be carried here: www.calchannel.com/.
