With more dry, windy conditions on the way, PG&E is expected to begin "public safety power shutoffs" Wednesday evening.

It definitely makes sense to shut the power off amid red flag conditions — particularly if you're a utility whose equipment has sparked scores of wildfires and you've been paying out stock dividends instead of maintaining your power lines.
