Throughout California, last weekend's hot weather helped spark a series of fires. In the north Central Valley, the Sand Fire continues to burn in and around Yolo County. The fire has burned more than 2,000 acres, although firefighters are making gains on it, and it's now 50% contained. Deputy Director of Cal Fire Mike Mohler tells Lily Jamali that these next few days are ripe for more intense fires.

In Los Angeles, UCLA officials are asking anyone who may have complaints against a retired gynecologist there to step forward. Dr. James Heaps pleaded not guilty yesterday to sexually abusing two patients in 2017 and 2018.
Three-Week Teachers Strike Ends
In the Bay Area, hundreds of teachers headed back to their classrooms Monday, a day after ratifying a hard-fought deal with their school district. The deal ended a three-week strike, just a few days before summer break.
