Fremont Priest Arrested on 30 Counts of Child Sexual Abuse
A catholic priest in the Bay Area city of Fremont has been arrested on thirty counts of child sex abuse. According to the Alameda County Sheriff's office, Father Hector David Mendoza-Vela is suspected of sexually abusing a minor over an 18 month period starting in 2016.
Adelanto Ending Contract for Largest Immigration Detention Facility in California
The City of Adelanto in San Bernardino is the latest in a string of local governments to get out of the business of detaining immigrants for the federal government. Late last week officials in the small desert town pulled out of a contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, throwing the fate of its largest detention facility in California up in the air.
