Governor Gavin Newsom puts out his proposed state budget today and we’re expecting to see more health spending. Newsom also has some eyebrow-raising ideas on how to save money. He wants all state agencies that buy prescription drugs to come together in one huge bargaining unit to ultimately drive down drug costs.

Montecito Remembers Those Lost in Mudslides

A year ago this week, torrential rains pelted the community of Montecito. The area, near Santa Barbara, was scorched a month earlier by wildfire. The rain unleashed a flow of mud and boulders the size of cars. Almost two dozen people died in the mudslide, including a toddler and a teenager whose bodies were never found.
