We begin in and around Chico, where some 200,000 people remain under an evacuation order. This comes after structural problems with the Oroville Dam, which could potentially lead to a destructive wall of water wiping out tens of thousands of homes. With so many people displaced, we wanted to get a sense of what they're doing while they wait for word from authorities.

While numbers are still being tallied, it looks like 2016 was a bad year for Valley Fever, with thousands of new infections recorded in Kern County alone.
