The Quest to Cap Orphaned Oil Wells off California's Coast
It's been more than a year since an oil spill in Santa Barbara County washed 140,000 gallons of crude oil over state beaches. That spill is now cleaned up, but it got state senator Hannah-Beth Jackson thinking about all the orphaned oil wells off California?s coast. Her bill, SB 900, would study and cap some of these old wells that may still be leaking every day.
