Kern County Residents Find Homes Destroyed by Erskine Fire
Firefighters are finally getting a handle on the Erskine Fire burning near Lake Isabella in Kern County. The sixty-eight square mile blaze began on Thursday, and has burned two hundred homes and killed two people. By Sunday night, containment of the fire rose from ten percent to forty percent.
Program Turns Motel Rooms Into Recovery Centers
If you had a health crisis, you would get emergency medical care and after it was over, you'd be sent home to recover from it. But what if you have no home? The homeless can't get well when they go back to the street, and they end up cycling back into hospitals. Now one program's tackling this, by turning cheap motel rooms into triage and recovery wards.
