The California Senate gave its final approval to eventually raise the state's minimum wage to $15 an hour, making it the highest in the nation. The Assembly passed the bill earlier in the day, and Gov. Jerry Brown is expected to sign it into law on Monday. With the threat of a November ballot measure to raise the minimum wage looming, this agreement came together and passed both houses in less than a week.
