State Board Votes to Lower Gas Tax
The state Board of Equalization voted to lower the excise tax rate on gasoline Tuesday by 2.2 cents per gallon. That's an average of about $10 a year for most drivers. The change was made to reflect changing gas prices, as the tax rate is attached to the price by state law. The Board approved the lower rate against the wishes of county representatives who said they would lose hundreds of millions of dollars for local road projects.
