The police force in Kern County, which sits on the southern tip of the Central Valley, has received the dubious distinction of being named "America's Deadliest Police." That was the conclusion reached by The Guardian newspaper, which recently published a five-part series investigating the Kern County Sheriff's Office and the Bakersfield Police Department. It found the county had the highest per-capita rate of police killings in the United States. We talk with Guardian reporter Oliver Laughland about the series.
