San Diego police say a 39-year-old man who grew up in the wealthy community of Coronado across San Diego Bay is suspected of carrying out a spate of attacks against homeless men, leaving three of them dead.
Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman told reporters Friday that Jon David Guerrero will be charged with three counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of arson.
Police say Guerrero was arrested less than an hour after attacking a fifth victim Friday. Officers responding to screams around 4:30 a.m. found a 55-year-old man under a freeway bridge with severe trauma to his upper body.
Police arrested Guerrero while he was riding his bicycle in the area. Authorities say they found evidence linking him to the attacks that have left three dead and two in critical condition, including Friday’s victim.
