You wouldn't think weekend joggers contribute to global warming, but organized races? That's a different story. There's the carbon footprint created by everyone attending, thousands of plastic water bottles for thirsty runners and heaps of goodie bags that often end up in a landfill. So this year, organizers of the Big Sur International Marathon decided to go green for their November event.
